The Asia Pacific Travel Health Society (APTHS)

The Asia Pacific Travel Health Society (APTHS) is a regional network of travel medicine practitioners that promotes and protects the health of travelers by advancing travel medicine and related disciplines in the Asia Pacific region.
The main activities of the APTHS are through its website, ad-hoc travel medicine courses/meetings in the region, and its biennial conferences.

The society was formed in 2000, during the Bali APTHC3, in response to the growing regional interest in travel medicine and to act as a focal point to channel regional initiatives and energies. This newly developing entity of travel medicine in Asia has already seen successful meetings focusing on travelers health.

The last three conferences have been highly successful: APTHC 2012 in Singapore, APTHC 2014 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and recently APTHC 2016 in Kathmandu, Nepal. The society is already back at work to guarantee an even more attractive and enriching conference in Bangkok, Thailand in 2018.

APTHC 2016 – Conference Highlights

The 11th Asia Pacific Travel Health Conference (APTHC 2016) was successfully held in Kathmandu, Nepal on 2-5 March, 2015. The society was delighted to host nearly 400 participants from 40 different countries who found the scientific program both stimulating and enriching.

Attendees enjoyed adjunct activities such as the pre-conference workshop on High-Altitude Illness, the Paediatric Traveler workshop and the post-conference heritage walk. The exciting scientific program featured more than 50 regional, international and also local speakers over various plenaries, symposia, destination and ABC workshops. Free communications and posters opportunities were offered and best presentation awards were presented at the Closing Ceremony.

This year again, ISTM organized the Certificate in Travel Health® Examination prior to the conference. The examination was taken by more than 50 participants including several local nurses.

APTHS members will be receiving an email shortly with login details to access speakers' presentations. The Photo Gallery can be seen on the
conference website.

We look forward to seeing you in Bangkok, Thailand in 2018.
